|
|
Quote: | A judge this morning issued the German tourist accused of making a bomb threat at Walt Disney World a $10,000 bond.
The judge said the bond is normally set at $5,000, but it is doubled in this case because the suspect, Jochen Naumann, 37, is from out of the country.
Orange County sheriff's deputies said Naumann, of Leipzig, on Sunday morning told Disney employees at the security checkpoint for the Magic Kingdom entrance that he had two bombs in his backpack.
The Disney employee questioned Naumann and he repeated the bomb threat, authorities said.
A sheriff's deputy stationed at the Disney checkpoint secured Naumann and called a bomb-sniffing dog to check Naumann's bag. The dog did not find explosive devices in the bag.
He was taken to a security office, read his rights and interviewed by deputies. He said he was only joking about having bombs, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies arrested Naumann and took him to the Orange County Jail. He faces a charge of making a false report of a bomb. |

I'm glad to see Disney Security takes 'jokes' seriously! It's stupid of anyone to joke about such things. _________________ John |

Guy has a warped sense of humor.
Glad Disney took it seriously, hope the courts do as well. |

The biggest joke of all is the fact that Disney security checkpoints still exist. They are woefully inadequate to stop all but the most obvious threats, and it's just another line that frustrated tourists are forced to wait in. This harmless prankster is in serious trouble now thanks to a major inconvenience that Disney foists upon its visitors. |

Nice to see that they don't take joke for granted.
Glad they responded as if it was real. |

Personally I have never found the security checkpoint line that long so I have no problem with it because it makes people think first.
Regarding the "joke"...it was in bad taste, the guest was given a chance to recant and did not and the guards acted appropriately. A comment like that is stupid and against the law - period.
It is like yelling fire in a movie theatre. There is nothing funny about it and Disney reacted as they should. If they ignored it, then the next time it "could have been" and then people would be complaining that Disney did not take the threat seriously. |

Well, now I've read that the man has been banned from all Disney Parks for life. May seem a bit harsh, but, somehow it's fine with me. What some people don't know is that after 911, the FBI went to Disney to learn there security measures for public places, because Disney actually has the best security of that type in the world. For instance, on the trams they tell people if they're carrying guns to take them back to their cars, they won't be allowed in the parks. Security finds about 12 or more guns hidden in the bushes outside the park entrances everyday, left by people to lazy to go back to their cars. Also, there's not a square inch of any of the parks that isn't covered by security cameras. |

Exactly! This is where I'm dumbfounded by people like this... but sometimes people like this just need to learn the hard way. Money and time(not to mention fun!) all wasted because someone had to make a stupid joke(TWICE, in fact!). |
