|
|
This has been talked about and partially confirmed for about two weeks now, but Disney has finally "officially announced" Luxo Jr's arrival to DHS;
He is going to be (if not already) installed just down from Toy Story Mania, near a section of the the walkway that said "Luxo Jr Lighting". Construction walls and tarps have been up for approx 1 week already. I got some photos this past Saturday morning and it did not appear to be anything vieweable yet, I will post the photos tonight.
This sounds really cool and would be a great additional to that section of the park! _________________ Up or Down North, South, East, or West An Adventurer's Life is Best! |

This would be interesting to see, and is cool in a geeky sort of Disney/Pixar way.
I'd be curious to see what type of staying power or draw this would have considering it does not vocalize and has basically limited movements.
Have to wait to see the pics. |

But isn't there a Luxo Jr in Toy Story Mania? Doesn't he/she shed light on Potato Head? Won't that be confusing...kind of like a bunch of street Santa's all on the same street?
A Luxo Jr character would be interesting, but I agree...how long before people become "bored" with it. _________________ When you're curious, you find lots of interesting things to do.

if they keep it fresh and program it to do "millions of different things periodically would be a nice concept. Kinda like "push" the trashcan at MK if they keep the spiel fresh it stays entertaining. sort of |

You're right, I love Push. I also love seeing kids talking to "other" trash cans! It's great. If they can do that with Luxo, then it would be a hit. _________________ When you're curious, you find lots of interesting things to do.

Keep in mind though. Luxo does not talk. Or at least he never has up to this point. |

Do we know how Luxo's going to be installed? Like is he going to be large and up on a platform, or will he actually be lamp size? Maybe he'll be a photo op. Lots of dorks (read, people like me) would love to get a photo with him. _________________ Doing the impossible is pretty fun - Walt Disney

Luxo Jr has made his debut and here is the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbwwYakCM_4
Totally cool and cute! At night, he does a show where he controls the colors and lights in the trees... During the day, his show features him dancing to Disney classics (like Sleeping Beauty's "One Upon a Dream").
Apparently he is not out all the time... he only comes out to do shows and his entrance is classic!
I can't wait to get a chance to see this in person! _________________ Up or Down North, South, East, or West An Adventurer's Life is Best! |

looks like a cool show. They got more emotion and reaction out of the character than I thought they would be able to do. |

I love little touches like this. For instance, the lit up pavement at Epcot. Combined, it really makes the Disney experience. I hope these little touches continue to get their due under the non-Eisner regime, since they don't directly compute to $$$. |

This is an AWESOME idea, considering Luxo was the first "character" audiences had seen from Pixar. As long as DHS puts his bouncy ball next to him... |
