Dive into The Seas at Epcot
The scuba-diving demonstration at The Seas With Nemo and Friends at Epcot had been on hiatus for about 6 months, a cast member told me, because of repairs. But recently, we were in the right place at the right time to see it again. And, boy, were my kids excited; they have always loved this demo.
In the center of the pavillion is a circular tank that extends two stories. A suited diver waits inside the empty chamber while his handlers instruct the crowd in common dive signals and safety.
Then, 4,000 gallons of water whoosh into the tank in less than a minute.
And the diver floats up and down, illustrating the signals and waving to the crowd. Guests might be surprised to learn the tank actually flows into an emergency hatch, not the aquariums of marine life throughout the building.
When the tank is drained, it only takes 30 seconds.
Afterward, visitors can meet the diver and even take pictures. You can see the demonstration daily at 11 a.m., noon, 2:45 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Ok, now we don't hang around at The Seas a lot, but I haven't seen the diving encounter being held (or advertised) in years... a lot longer than 6 months! _________________ Up or Down North, South, East, or West An Adventurer's Life is Best!
Does anyone remember the scuba diving dog that did a show in the scuba tank there? I know there was one, but my friend is calling me out. Need confirmation from folks.
