I went to OrlandoSentinel.com looking for a show review and saw this instead. I know these rumors have been circling, but this just breaks my heart. I wonder what will become of our beloved Adventurer's Club?
"The six nightclubs at Pleasure Island will soon shut down, as Walt Disney World redevelops the adult-focused district at Downtown Disney."

This is so depressing. We've had so many great times there. _________________ *~deb~*

Disney has stated pretty bluntly that the AC will be closed too- hard to believe really. I guess if it has to close we an only hope that the rumors of an expanded AC in "Disney's Night Kingdom" are true. |

Yeah, during our Interview Chat with Jim Hill, he said that the Nightly Kingdom WAS GOING TO HAPPEN and that the AdvClub was going to be "moved" to it. He said it was only a matter of time for the closing of the clubs....

I'm at a loss for words.
Honestly, this diminishes my interest of going to WDW any more. Having a spot for adults wasn't a bad thing. They were even increasing the age to 18 for access to ALL the clubs, which, again, isn't a bad thing.
I hope Disney takes a long, hard look at what they are doing and realizes that they screwed up! _________________ When you're curious, you find lots of interesting things to do.

This, of course, rocks me to my core. It was not only a fantastic place but my nightly hangout. The mood last night was one of a wake. I feel sorry for my friends that work there, the regulars that "live" there, and all the other gueast who had a great time there and were looking forward to going back but will not get to. We have lost a great part of WDW and, with the Adventures' Club, an icon.

I arrive at WDW the day it closes...for the trip that would have had my first trip to the AC. Ah well...looks like I'm going to miss the chance.

SGT, please pass on my heart-felt sympathy to all those at the Clooob.
I feel bad for my loss, but I also feel bad for the performers who have brought so much fun and joy to my life. I hope they all find a new home that is better than before. _________________ When you're curious, you find lots of interesting things to do.

Isn't there somewhere else they could re=open it with a somewhat similar theme? I know it's the whole New Years Eve thing...but what about attached to one of the resorts hotels? Is it a place that drawsrevenue every night or only weekends in the busy season...
I'm sad to see it go since I've not been able to see it yet...I guess the quesion is: does this place justify being re-opened elsewhere to management...we all wish everything we love would remain open forever...if management sees a reason, it may continue...if not, it may be gone forever.

They stopped New Years Eve a long time ago.
They COULD move it to another location, or just keep it where it is, but it appears that the desire is to NOT have an adult only area in WDW.
Shortsighted if you ask me. _________________ When you're curious, you find lots of interesting things to do.

My mom and I have been discussing this, and we've decided they should re-open the AC at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Now if only Disney would listen to us.
We are going to go back down one weekend in August or early September and go probably two nights in a row. I'll keep everyone posted on dates so maybe we can have a little PI sendoff. |
