No one's brought it up, so I'll have a go.
Got to see the new and improved Attic scene last night, and boy, is it ever nifty.
The attic has been redecorated, and the theme has been changed from a tormented, jilted bride- to a "black widow" who has slain several new husbands, only to end up a ghost herself, eternally mocking her murdered mates.
The effects are fantastic- new changing pictures, showing the happy couple, before and after the bride's handiwork. The grooms' heads disappear from the photos, leaving behind an empty suit. Arranged around the pictures are various wedding gifts- spoils for the bride,
The bride herself, (now named "Constance") is a sight to behold. Moved across the track, she is now a fully digital projection onto an AA figure. She is very wicked, indeed, and her face is vividly scary. She's got a crazed look in her eyes, as she mocks her wedding vows, "'Til DEATH do us part" and "For as long as we BOTH shall live". Appearing and disappearing is her chosen weapon, a hatchet, with sound effects of a blade being sharpened.
All in all, the effects are fantastic, and definitely add to the experience. It does make the attraction a bit more gruesome, and some small children might be a bit more frightened of this than a pop-up ghost. For those who are die-hard Mansion fans, you may also lament the changes, but they are a good upgrade in my opinion. _________________ |

I love the new concept! -especially when you consider the folklore of the original bride. If I'm correct, there wasn't a real story behind her. -Just a subplot & sight-gag. Now that she's noticed as a prominent figure, giving her a dark past rather than a sympathetic sob story really keeps with the original 'spirit' of the Haunted Mansion. What a great twist! -especially when you've been led to believe that Master Gracey was the true villain of the HM for decades.
I can't wait to see this.

Trust me, A/D- the changes might have elimiated the momentary "fright" of a pop-up ghost, but the downright creepy-crawly feel this new bride gives you might just end up scaring you even more!! _________________ |

I'm going to need to see it a few more times...The effect looked ok though it would be better if the figure was a bit more 3 dimensional...
The Attic on the other hand...looks spectacular... _________________

Unfortunately the Video Hides a lot.
Allbeit it was a step in the right direction...hearing her off in the distance and an ethereal sound of metal strikes echoing when the Axe appears and disappears.
Overall some of the worst front projection "Leota" effects unfortunately... _________________

I think this is a realy great addition to the mansion. I really like that the parks are looking more into developing a storyline for it, I wonder if this new addition to the Mansion will get her own comic in addition to the bride in the attic from WDW. Anyone know if they've changed the attic at WDW as well? |

I was concerned at first about changing the mansion, as I think everyone was, but overall I think these changes are a good think. I can't wait to see it in person! |

Just remember... change is good.. not always enjoyed or appreciated...but good.
I can guarantee you that if Walt was still around... there would probably be a lot more changes than we have now!
I will be in DL in 2 weeks, and I can't wait to get into the attic! _________________ Dave.... |
