Boy Struck and Killed by Bus at Disney World
Apr 01, 2010 2:59 PM EDT
DEVELOPING: A 10-year-old boy was killed Thursday after he was struck by a bus at Disney World, MyFoxOrlando.com reported.

The Florida Highway Patrol told MyFoxOrlando.com that a Disney bus hit the boy near the park's Fort Wilderness Resort shortly before 2 p.m. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

"We wish to extend our deepest sympathy to the boy's family and loved ones for their loss," Disney spokeswoman Andrea Finger said in a statement. "We are currently providing the necessary resources and care to help the family with this situation."

This is the third bus-related incident at Disney in six months.

It just keeps getting worse for Disney. Hopefully they are not hiring sub-standard drivers, or working them to the point of fatigue. I've only been on one Disney bus with a driver who was a bit scary.

Thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

I wonder what kind of hornets nest this will stir up?

What horrible news. That poor family and driver...

You have to wonder what is going on at Disney transportation right now, it just seems to keep getting worse.

More details have been released regarding this terrible tragedy: http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/local/breakingnews/os-child-hit-bus-disney-20100401,0,6156951.story

Apparently it looks like the boy was riding beside the bus on a sidewalk and some how struck the side fo the bus and was pulled under. So at this point it does not sound like the bus driver was at fault... not that it matters at this point.

Disney is just getting brutalized with mishaps. Soon there will have to be waivers to ride any transportation on property! Shocked

Disney looks out for the best interest of all their guests and when accidents like this happens, the media gets the impression that Disney is evil! Rolling Eyes

This event, though a tragic accident, will blow over in due time.

I remember my last visit in October there was a huge accident at night in front of the intersection the Magic Kingdom parking lot.

Gee. minor points like this change the entire way this article is read. Wonder why they did not include any of this in the original article.

The exact details were not know until a day or so later... After the Sheriff's office completed their investigation.

There has been an update to this case, apparently the boy's front tire was flat and they believe that is what caused him to crash into the bus: http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/local/breakingnews/os-fatal-disney-bus-crash-reports-20100614,0,4690839.story
