More rumors and news about Pleasure Island's last night (we are going to try our best to be there!):
Screamscape sources have sent in some information about what we might see during Pleasure Island’s last nights. First off the Fireworks will return to PI for a special finale show on the 27th, though we’ve heard there is also a slight chance it could also happen on the 26th. We will see performances by Frankie and the West End Boys and Hip Kitty, some off-season special shows in the Adventure’s Club (Halloween & Christmas themed) plus we’ve heard that the AC’s night will end with a very special show where the story may give away a reason as to why the club is closing. I’ve also heard that there may be some kind of special show over at the Comedy Warehouse as well. Meanwhile look for lots of extra characters in the streets and special souvenir merchandise.
After that… turn off the lights on the way out because the party is over… unless you are a member of one of a few special private groups who have already booked the various venues (yes, Adventure’s Club too) for special private functions. Apparently the special event types still have some events scheduled for these locations through to Jan, 1st 2009. After that… crews will move in to start removing anything of value and prepare the site buildings for new owners or for demolition.
As for the buildings… we’ve heard that suits have been spotted walking the island with rolled blueprints lately, looking over the current BET, Adventure Club, Beach Club and Motion buildings. As for the buildings on the other side of the street (8-Trax, Mannequins) we’ve heard that there may be no set plans for those sights yet, which could possibly mean they could have a date with a wrecking ball in order to build up something entirely new.

They have changed the times and shows for the last few days of Pleasure Island:
Pleasure Island is adding additional show times and entertainment for Guest enjoyment. Thurs., Sept. 18:
The Comedy Warehouse opens early with an additional show at 6:55pm. Show times are: 6:55pm, 8pm, 9:10pm, 10:25pm, 11:35pm, and 12:45am.
D.J. (Disk Jockey) duo performing on the Waterfront Stage at Pleasure Island, 6pm - 1:30am
Fri., Sept. 19 and Sat., Sept. 20:
Adventurers Club opens at 6pm with additional Library shows
The Comedy Warehouse opens early with an additional show at 6:55pm. Show times are: 6:55pm, 8pm, 9:10pm, 10:25pm, 11:35pm, and 12:45am.

The Orlando Sentinel has a main page article about the last weekend of Pleasure Island (which is this weekend)....
Well, we were planning on heading down there Saturday night, but I am not sure about it. From what I've been reading, the crowds have been insane and they have gone back to the original crowd routing (where you leave the library and are herded outside). So, you have to wait in the main outside line again, before you can get back into the club. I've also heard of lines just to get down the stairs to get into the salon, let alone into a library show.
While it is probably going to be a once in a lifetime show, there is no guarantee that you could even get to see the show (and spend the whole night outside).
Besides, the last time we went we had a blast and I don't want my last time to be glimpses of the performers and disappointment.....
What do you guys think? Anyone out there planning on attempting to go? BTW has anyone seen SGT since the announcement was made ? _________________ Up or Down North, South, East, or West An Adventurer's Life is Best!

Resort News - (9/24/0 According to one of our Universal Orlando sources guests can now trade in their old Pleasure Island Annual Pass to Citywalk Guest Services for a Citywalk Pass good through March 31st, 2009. This special offer is apparently only good through to the end of the year however, and the pass is not good for admission on New Years Eve or into any other VIP or separately ticketed event.

Well, the clubs are closed... Pleasure Island is no more....
And no, we did not head out there last night (see previous posts for why)... I've been reading a few things about what happened last night and videos are slowly starting to show up online....
Orlando Attractions Magazine posted a quick article about last night and some of the great things that happened.... Included in their article was this YouTube video of a long heard of, but never seen member of the Adventurer's Club: Sutter Bestwick!
The video is of Sutter doing the new members ceremony to the people standing outside of the club.... But what makes this video even more cool.... not that it includes Sutter, but that a certain member of the UAB family can be seen in the crowd. How does he always end up in these videos...? Probably because he was always there

Interesting rumor about Pleasure Island:
According to one source, in the weeks that have followed the closure of Pleasure Island, WDW Management has been made aware of just how dead and silent the middle of Downtown Disney has become. On top of this, we’ve heard rumors that the poor economy has also made several of the 3rd party companies who were set to move in, start to second guess these costly projects. With serious demolition not even planned until sometime in 2009, the rumor leaking from Team Disney is that management is looking into possibly reopening some of the venues for the busy Holiday season. Anyone else heard this?
Could we possibly see the AdvClub reopen on a seasonal basis? I don't understand why they couldn't have just openned the Clubs on different nights of the week. Example: AdvClub: Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat
Comedy Warehouse: Tues, Thur, Fri, Sat
That way they are not open every night of the week, lowering costs, and maximizing the number of people.... The demo phase has begun... permits have been filed and work has already started. The PI Live DJ booth and accompanying structures are behind walls and being taken apart (Sosa's is still open, albeit with fewer entrances because some are behind the walls...
The rumor is that the Rock 'n Roll Beach Club building is next (which was also rumored to be in pretty bad shape to begin with)... _________________ Up or Down North, South, East, or West An Adventurer's Life is Best!
