Walt Disney World is giving its Cinderella Castle a new nighttime, ice-palace look for the holiday season, starting tonight.
Disney has created the new look for the Magic Kingdom's centerpiece structure by attaching 200,000 LED lights to 32,000 square feet of fish net, then draping it over the castle.
The ice-palace look will be the big special effect of a new evening show running through the holiday season, featuring the characters of Cinderella, including her fairy godmother. Similar effects were employed at the castle in Disneyland Paris in 2005, and have been added to Disney castles in California, Hong Kong and Toyko. _________________ When you're curious, you find lots of interesting things to do.

I noticed those lights on the castle when I was there in October, but I thought they were part of a show or something. I bet the castle would look wicked cool lit up like that. _________________ It's kind of fun to do the impossible. ~Walt Disney |

If you go to the link at the beginning of the article, you can see a picture with the lights on. It does look pretty cool. _________________ When you're curious, you find lots of interesting things to do.

The pictures just do not do it justice. It truly is incredible. I saw it the last night we spent in the MK, and it totally took us all by surprise. It looks like some thing that is truly out of a magical dream. |

I would love to see this. It looks breathtaking! Hopefully it will become an annual thing and we'll get down there in December again _________________ Kathy

Sorry But there are no Disney races in December so I guess we're not

The castle is awesome and beautiful in person... the photos and video don't do it justice...
We were out there this past weekend and got like 4 or 5 photo pass pictures with the castle.... it's just incredible...
Haven't had a chance to see what my photos look like yet, might try that tonight... If I can, I will post some of our photos tonight...
But trust me, this is a GREAT addition! It is not the Cake Castle, incase you are wondering about that... I know some people might complain about the lights during the day, but you can hardly see them during the day... The only times they become obvious is at the end of the day (sunset) when they cast a few shadows, but that only lasts like 30 mins.... The other time is if you are trying to get really up close photos...
But you know what, I think the trade offs are worth it.... I hope this is something that they do for a long time during Christmas! _________________ Up or Down North, South, East, or West An Adventurer's Life is Best! |
