I never got the opportunity to go to River Country before it closed (I actually had only been to Disney once before our Honeymoon in 2000)... But I know some people really liked the place... For those people, these photos may be depressing...
These are photos I took yesterday, on the boat trip from MK to the Wilderness Lodge... Enjoy!

I have a feeling R.C. may never re-open, however the facilities (not the pools) are still used for private events. I spent a whole summer there away from GMR hosting the All American Water Party, and had an absolute blast. It was a fun park. |

I went to this park when it was still open - I think it was 1989 - or somewhere right around there. I loved it. It had a really relaxed feeling and was smaller then Typhoon Lagoon. I particulary remember enjoying the large pool - where there was a bunch of stuff to play on.
Plus it was really fun just going there. The boat ride. And wandering around Fort Wilderness . Strolling on the wooden walkways through the swamps was really cool. There's not really a reason to go over that way anymore - with RC gone - unless you just want to explore a bit which we never seem to have time for. |

That's kind of sad. I remember going there as a kid. It was a fun place, and I loved the slide that went into the pool. |

I've read they have new plans for the site, but have not seen any description of what they might be. |
