U.S. Astronauts: Jim Irwin, Gordon Cooper, and Scott Carpenter. although as I understand it, for the original opening in all 6 surviving Mercury astronauts were in attendance, ( not sure if they all rode it or not...)

For a while there in the 90's, they played a very cheesy future TV news cast (which you can find on UAB) while you waited in the queue. What was the name of the meteorologist and fashion expert?

Ray Cathode is the name of the fashion critic (voiced by Glenn Shadix; "Otho" in Beetle Juice)

It's been 6 months, Let's relaunch this Forum by igniting a new question...

When you first get to Disneyland's Space Mountain the attraction begins in Space Station 77 (yes, a reference to the year DL's SM opened) where riders board their rocket.

According to the story building in the queue, "Who is the captain of Space Station 77"?
