Does anyone know where we get the phrase," God Bless You" and explain it?

[quote="RichInOrlando"]The Space Shuttle Orbiters names were
Enterprise
Columbia
Challenger
Discovery
Atlantis
Endeavor.[/quote

true but enterprise isn't an orbiter really it only flew over the desert lake bed in California and on the back of a 747 to fl to stand on the launch pad 39A which i think i have the only picture made of it, so really it's not an orbiter it's only a glider.

The phrase God Bless You, (which I firmly believe we should still use, although not for these reasons) as I've been told, was started because it was thought your heart stopped/skipped when you sneezed, so the blessing was in the hopes that God would allow it to restart.

I was taught it came out of the dark ages during the plague cause sneezing was thought to be one of the symptoms of the illness. The violent sneezing was thought you would sneeze you soul right out of your body so they would say God bless you in order for God to protect you. Now in German we say Gesundheit (good health) for the same reason

But like other tales who really knows at this point, I mean look at the song ring around the roses talks about the plague and London bridges falling down about the burning of London bridge when they used to build on it, some stories have more sinister meanings
