I thought it might be interesting to see what everyone's favorite Christmas songs are... If you have spent any time on this site, you know we have a wide range and musical likes and dis-likes... And with Christmas music, you have a wide range of styles in relation to the music associated with this time of the year... so I thought it would be interesting to see what type of songs everyone loves to listen too!

There are my top ten... not in any particular order, they can vary depending on mood and such... at least these are my favorites until Off Kilter puts out a Christmas album!

Bing Crosby & David Bowie: Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy

Cindy Lauper: Feels Like Christmas
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqU6T4qkyzQ

Band Aid: Do They Know It's Christmas
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jEnTSQStGE

Leon RedBone and Zooey Deschanel: Baby Its Cold Outside
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJWSDeP4k-M

Queen: Thank God It's Christmas
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9DjB3D2_mk

Blackhawk: We Three Kings of Orient Are

Audio Adrenaline - Little Drummer Boy

Rebeca St James -Sweet Little Jesus Boy

Transiberian Orchestra: Faith Noel and Christmas/ Sarajevo 12/24
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alIcwofkrS8

The Darkness: The Darkness - Christmas Time (Don't Let The Bells End)

So what are you favorites?

I don't have "favorites" per se. I love most Christmas music. I really like the older stuff (30's - 50's) but I also love the tunes from the current artists (I can't remember the names of the CD's, but there are 3). Then there are the fun ones like Chipmunks and Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer! Oh, and the tunes from the classic Christmas shows!

I'm not a big Christmas music fan, but I do have The Blue Hawaiians performing holiday hits. Does Nightmare Before Christmas music count? Very Happy

In no particular order . . .

"In the Bleak Midwinter" - Gustav Holst
"Sherburne" - Daniel Reed (Sacred Harp)
"Adeste Fidelis"
"O Tannebaum"
"Stille Nacht"
"Gloria in excelsis deo"
"What Child is this"
"Fairy Tale of New York" - The Pogues

In terms of specific recordings, there are recordings by the Vienna Boy Choir and the Hilliard Ensemble, the Bowie / Crosby recording of "The Little Drummer Boy" and of course the soundtrack to "A Charlie Brown Christmas".

[there's a bunch more. I'll see if I come up with any later.]

I love the First Harry Connick Christmas album

I must agree Charlie Brown Christmas is most excellent

I really like the Barenaked ladies/Sarah Mclauclin rendition of "god rest ye merry gentlemen"
