I was reading the news just a bit ago and saw an article on Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's baby announcement. Why would you name your child "Sunday"?
I just don't get it. What's with these celebrities that think giving their children some obscure name is a good thing?

So when they call him, it can sound like a monster truck rally - "sunday, SUNDAY, SUUUUUUNDAY"
Or, maybe it's the day that a Friday-opening Nicole Kidman movie is officially declared a flop. |

This particular child happens to be a girl, but still; what possesses people to give their children such outlandish names? _________________ *~deb~*

Like having the last name of Stone, and considering naming their child FRED FLINT?
I blame Frank Zappa. Moon Unit and Dweezle started it all..... _________________ When you're curious, you find lots of interesting things to do.

I grew up with two girls, Tuesday and Wednesday...days on which they were not born. They received their names for some strange astrological reason.
I think strange names are just silly. I think well thought out names that have meaning can be good...at least your kid knows you cared enough to think about what traits their parents would want them to embody.
I hadn't heard this...but it seems to fit right in with a long line of STRANGE baby names...seriously, Apple??? Sunday is up there!

no test for parenting, so why should there be any control over naming...
Maybe Friday was taken and Sunday was the only other day they could remember...
Considering the sources, I think the kid actually made out ok... Could have been worse. |

And to think, I always hated Francis.
Guess I should consider myself lucky. At least I was named after a Saint and not a day of the week, an herb, or a stringed instrument. _________________ [ |

This madness has been going on for years. I worked in a NE Washington, DC hospital through high school and college. My first job was on the Labor and delivery floor and part of my responsibilities was filling out birth certificates. Here are just a few of the names I recorded:
Cole Black
Unique Lee Brown
Crystal Chandelier Jones
Rusty Nail Hammer
King Charles Wethersby
(and my all-time favorite) BRAIN HENDERSON ...no that's not spelled incorrectly. The mother assured me that was the correct spelling for Brian... _________________ John |

Brain is the correct spelling for Brian? ? ? That poor kid. I think we have found the root cause of his future problems.
And, I'm with Grumpy, I've never heard of a St. Figment. Do you know his feast day? |

I believe it's March 17th. At least that's when we usually celebrate it at my house. As if you all couldn't have guessed that. _________________ [ |

I thought March 17tth is St. Patrick's Day... Not St. Figment's day. I'll have to go look that one up.
Is he the patron St of anything in particular? authors, moviemakers, beer drinkers? |
