How about The Princess and the Frog? Their relationship was a bit complicated.

Another good, sensible guess, but no. In this movie, none of the interaction with human characters goes well for the non human characters. More recent release than the Rescuers as well.

Toy Story 3? There were some definite bad moments between human and non-human. Although, that goes for all the Toy Story movies I think.

Not Wall-E. You’d think the speaker might have been “clowning “ around, but the character being spoken to was still “blue” over it.
